Salvatore Magazù is a Full Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Messina, where he coordinates the research group on Complex Systems and Physics of the Atmosphere and Climate.

Prof. S. Magazù has received numerous national and international awards, notably the Scientia Europea 2000 Prize awarded by the French Academy of Sciences.

From 2009 to the present, he has been the president of the Interuniversity Consortium of Applied Physical Sciences (CISFA).

Since 2017, he has been a Member of the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Jury chaired by Lucia Votano.

From 2013 to 2015, he was the president of the International Consortium Le Studium COSMO, based in Orléans (France), consisting of five international partners (France, Hungary, Italy, Sweden, and the USA) in the field of cosmeceuticals and in collaboration with the French Cosmetic Valley of the Centre-Val de Loire Region.

Since 2019, he has held a professorship at the Centre d'Études Supérieures de la Renaissance (CESR) in Tours (France).

He was a member of the National Scientific Habilitation Commission 02/B1 Experimental Physics of Matter – Disciplinary Scientific Sector FIS/01 – Experimental Physics.

In the academic year 2016-2017, he was a Research Fellow at Le STUDIUM Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies at the CNRS (CBM) and at the CNRS Laboratoire Interfaces, Confinement, Matériaux et Nanostructures (ICMN) in Orléans, France.

From 2010 to 2012, he was Chairman of the Scientific Committee “Disordered Systems and Liquids” of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France.

From 2009 to 2010, he was an associate researcher at Le STUDIUM Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies within the project “Structure and dynamics of liquid materials” at the CEMHTI – CNRS laboratory, Orléans, France.

From 2008 to 2010, he was a member of the Scientific Committee “Structure and Dynamics of Liquids and Glasses” at the Institut Max Von Laue – Paul Langevin (ILL) facility in Grenoble, France.

From 2007 to 2010, he was a member of the National Board of the Italian Society of Neutron Spectroscopy (SISN).

Since 2018, he has been a member of the "University Research Center for the Study of Extreme Environments and Extremophiles".

Since 2019, he has been a spin-off Founder and President of the Scientific Council of the Innovative Start-up ATHENA Green Solutions S.r.l., specializing in the field of materials: www.athenagreensolutions.com
