Among its activities, the Interuniversity Consortium of Applied Physical Sciences includes the study of correlations between climate change and the genesis of extreme meteorological events in the Mediterranean area, such as heavy rainfall accumulations and the formation of tropical-like Mediterranean cyclones (Medicanes).

The research team is composed of: Prof. Salvatore MagazĂą, President of CISFA and Full Professor of Experimental Physics at the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Physical Sciences and Earth Sciences (MIFT) of the University of Messina; Dr. Maria Teresa Caccamo; Dr. Giuseppe Castorina; Dr. Agostino Semprebello.

Within the framework of the “M’illumino di meno 2021” initiative, namely the National Day of Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles launched by Caterpillar and Radio2, participants were invited to share the small and large “species leaps” in their daily lives.

CISFA is pleased to share its initiative aimed at raising awareness toward sustainable lifestyles, promoted since its foundation through events, seminars, conferences and dissemination activities. The objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and counteract climate change and its consequences, with particular reference to extreme events recorded in the Mediterranean area, extensively studied within CISFA.
